Pray for...

Description

Okay, it's not the nicest looking stamp, but what's important is the message I'm trying to get across:

Praying Okay, so you don't need to be super religious to pray. It's basically another way of expressing hope for the country. You don't need to believe that praying will physically do something, but sometimes it's the most you can do and people are often happy with just that.

Karma Don't even start with that "they deserve it" crap... World War II and that incident in Pearl Harbor happened a good seventy years ago, and I'm pretty sure most of the people affected by the tsunami weren't involved with it or even alive at the time.

Concern for the People I understand that a lot of you genuinely care about the people in Japan, but I feel a lot of the hype is about the country itself. Being Deviantart, a lot of users on here are associated with Japan in the way that they're into anime, manga, the technology, the art, the culture, you have family there, etc.

Some people tend to care little about the actual people. Oh the next chapter for your favorite manga won't be released because of this boo hoo. There are people homeless and dying out there. People have drowned, been buried, injured, and probably getting sick from radiation.

I don't recall everybody getting this worked up over the earthquake in Haiti, which has a death count of over 316,000 deaths. (Which is continuing to grow due to the lack of real government and poor living conditions.)

Don't let this disaster blind you to everything else going on. Sure it's the most broadcast disaster on the news, but there's still other stories, other disasters and deaths that a lot of people hardly pay attention to. Everywhere in the world something is going on, but not causing quite the same attention. Don't stay ignorant to what's going on around you.

Act I'm sure the people of Japan appreciate your hope and kind words, but a little money can go a long way. Just $1-$10 can make a big difference when everyone pitches in.

Maybe start a fundraiser at your school or community.
You can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 from your phone.

Actions speak louder than words.
